I had a large surge of nostalgia when I saw the article on the Titan engine coupled to the spray pump in issue #160. From my earliest memories, this is how we pumped water from the dam up to the tank, for a couple of thousand chooks. Father took on an apple orchard in Panton Hill, in 1928, with the ‘spray pump’ included. By the time I came on the scene in 1935, he had changed over to chooks, so the spray pump was dismantled and put to another use. I would follow him to the dam and watch as he oiled and greased the unit, identical to the one featured.
