Rider-Ericsson Hot Air Engine Kit Build - Part 1

I purchased this hot air engine kit from a friend of mine who wanted to raise some money to buy some more engines. What particularly drew me to this particular engine was that it was a cast iron kit, not aluminium, as was commonly available in the USA market. We struck a deal and I took delivery of the kit.

However, I then had to leave it sitting for about six months while I finished off some other projects. I also used this time to study the plans and look at other similar engines. Once I was satisfied that I had learned as much as I could on the full-size engine, it was time to start on my kit.
