Several years ago, I was looking for something different to restore, which could also be used on my property, just outside Toowoomba, Qld. A rubber-tyred machine was out of the question, as some of its future work would involve removing the introduced weed, African Boxthorn, which has spikes up to two inches long. These would puncture tractor tyres easily, so I went looking for a crawler, which uses tracks.
Small dozers are relatively scarce in our local area, so when I saw a David Brown 50TD advertised in one of our rural papers, I decided this would be an interesting machine to have. The blade was made by Conquip in Sydney, and the push arms are designed to be swung around and used as a toolbar behind the tractor.
