Garry Brookes had always been involved with timber and transport which included hauling logs to Bunnings in Manjimup, Western Australia. It was during the late 1990s, when Garry, along with his wife, Jill, who were well on their way to establishing the Dardanup Heritage Park, bought the D8H Caterpillar. Garry had known of the two D8H crawlers in the Bunnings yard, and when they offered him one, he purchased the better of the two which was still in good working order, and transported it to the Dardanup Heritage Park.
The restoration was done by Max Gervase and the repaint was by Bob Lukins.
