The years following World War Two saw great progress in farm mechanisation in Australia with the last of the big horse teams being phased out as tractors became available, but the problem was that factories had been set up for war production which was the same for the UK and the USA.
There were long waiting lists for motor vehicles and farm machinery. All consumer goods, building supplies, and other civilian products were in short supply.
