6hp Amanco Engine Identified
4 min read

Having read with interest the short piece in the June/July 2016 issue (#185) under the heading Identity Parade #185-1 from Allen regarding the unknown engine now owned by The Wollondilly Heritage Centre, I thought the following might answer some of the questions posed...and questions not yet thought of.

The engine (or should I say the remains of the engine) is, without doubt, an ‘Amanco’, as built by The Associated Manufacturers Company, Ltd., of Waterloo, Iowa, USA. It is evident from the picture published, together with the description given relating to its known history, that the restoration of this engine will be a very long-term project. There are a great many items missing, and what remains will most certainly require a great deal of attention. However, over time and with a great deal of good luck, the required parts might be found, probably in America.
