101 Year Old Crane Returns To Steam - Part 1

The Bellarine railway is situated on the picturesque Bellarine Peninsula, 25km from Geelong, Vic. The railway operates 16km of restored track between the costal towns of Queenscliff and Drysdale. Over the years, the railway has amassed an amazing collection of rolling stock from nearly every state that operated these 3ft 6” railways. 

The collection includes thirteen steam locomotives, five diesels, three rail motors and an array of coaches and goods wagons. But the odd one of the collection is an ex-WAGR steam crane. 

Steam crane No. 30 (builder’s number 8107) was built by Thomas Smith of Rod
